Cardwell
Farms is committed to the production of quality certified organic
soil amendments and mulches for our customers.
Our
priority is to find organic solutions for weed/insect control,
moisture control, and the maintenance of nutrient levels and healthy
soil structure, all in an environmentally responsible manner. As a
result of concerns arising from topsoil mining to supply material for
the landscape industry, we looked for alternative ways to meet this
need. In 1991 we began developing the formula for the production of
the compost used today for our growing mediums. This compost consists
of forestry by-products, fisheries by-products, and various mixes of
farm manure.
Cardwell Farms
produces approximately 65000 tonnes of compost and soil amendments
annually, which are marketed in
Eastern Canada
and the north-eastern
United States.
In our bagging and packaging facility we are able to produce both
Cardwell Farms products and private label products.
We
also offer
compost products to the wholesale landscaping market. These
include Country Blend Compost, Composted Sheep Manure, Atlantic Marine
Compost, Organic Black Earth , Compost-enriched topsoil, and a
Compost/peat blend Potting Soil. All of our products are certified
organic by Maritime Certified Organic Growers (MCOG). Cardwell Farms considers itself a progressive company looking
to expand the use of by-product inputs for formulating our organic
compost products and in new applications of our products within the
horticultural and agricultural industries.
Cardwell Farms
is a member of The Compost Council
of Canada. We were awarded the Ministers Marketing Award of
Excellence (export category) in 1998 in recognition of our
contributions to marketing New Brunswick agricultural products.
At
Cardwell Farms
we believe it is important to give back to our community. Our
corporate philanthropy includes support of our local food banks
through "Plant A Row/Grow A Row" community garden projects which
assist people in need in our region; supplying materials for
fund-raising projects; and financial support of various charities and
organizations.
